Three to Get Ready for July 18, 2026

Bad News First

The news can be disheartening, but it can also focus our engagement. Let’s gird our loins and take a peek.

  1. Marco Rubio and Stephen Miller warned an audience of international diplomats about “far left terror” and “antifa,” who should be easy to spot because, according to Miller, “Not one looks normal.”
  2. The Treasury Department’s top tax policy official was forced out after he warned the White House that it was illegal to intervene in taxpayer audits.
  3. ICE shared Medicaid data it shouldn’t have had in the first place with Palantir, a company that developed an app used by ICE.

But Here’s the Good News

Encouraging developments don’t always show up in the headlines. But good things are happening every day, so take the wins!

  1. A ruling protecting Connecticut voter rolls from the DOJ makes it 16-0.
  2. The president’s address on election interference was so embarrassing that CBS had to fact check it and Fox & Friends pretended it never happened.
  3. The government has lost or abandoned nearly half of its cases for assaulting or impeding ICE agents.

And Here’s What You Can Do

Doing good is good for you. Give one of these a try!

  1. Use ACLU’s template to call on your Senators and House Reps to hold ICE accountable.
  2. Join Indivisible’s July 30 kick-off call for the Hands Off Our Vote initiative.
  3. Red Wine & Blue has late July calls coming up on national parks censorship, what’s behind rising electricity bills, and Troublemaking 101. Check one out!
