Three to Get Ready for April 27, 2026

Bad News First

The news can be disheartening, but it can also focus our engagement. Let’s take a quick peek.

  1. The president fired all 24 members of the National Science Board, which oversees the National Science Foundation.
  2. Of more than 1,500 biologists, chemists, and other scientific experts who worked at the Environmental Protection Agency, only 124 researchers remain.
  3. The U.S. Supreme Court is allowing Texas to implement its new congressional map, aimed at increasing the number of GOP seats in the House.

But Here’s the Good News

Good things are happening every day, so take heart!

  1. A federal judge ordered a hearing on whether a president can sue the federal government he oversees, questioning whether the president’s $10 billion suit against the IRS is a dispute for the courts.
  2. Another immigration officer is facing state charges, this time in Colorado for assaulting a protester.
  3. More than 100 former NASA astronauts have formed a nonprofit to promote the Constitution and rule of law.

And Here’s What You Can Do

Doing good is good for you (and everyone).

  1. Take a look at Astronauts for America and cheer them on or make a donation.
  2. Sample ACLU’s Know Your Rights University, a video series for kids, and bookmark for family screentime.
  3. Don’t like, share, or post conspiracy theories about the White House Correspondents’ Association shooting (or anything else). Let the professional journalists do their jobs. Please and thank you.
