The news can be overwhelming, but it can also inspire. Let’s remind ourselves why we aren't huge fans of kings in America.
- Armed ICE agents are being deployed to U.S. airports, for reasons difficult to explain.
- The administration has lifted sanctions on millions of barrels of Iranian oil, to the benefit of Iran, during a U.S. war with Iran.
- Bypassing congress by declaring another emergency, the administration is poised to sell $23 billion in weapons to Middle Eastern allies under attack by Iran.
But Here’s the Good News
Bad news drives clicks, so encouraging developments don’t always make the headlines. But good things are happening, so let's buck up!
- A Defense Department policy limiting Pentagon press credentials in an effort to deter unfavorable coverage is unconstitutional, a federal judge has ruled.
- In dozens of cases over the past few weeks, the Department of Justice has given up on defending lawsuits brought by immigrants in detention. (Not normal, by the way.)
- A federal appeals court agreed with a lower court’s dismissal of claims that one million-plus Arizona voters should be purged from the state’s rolls.
