Three to Get Ready for April 6, 2026

Bad News First

The news can be disheartening, but it can also focus our engagement. Let’s take a teeny tiny little peek.

  1. For the first time in 20+ years, two American military aircraft were shot down in Iran. The airmen were subsequently rescued.
  2. The president of the United States is repeatedly threatening to use our military to commit war crimes.
  3. It appears that the State Department is leveraging funding for international health assistance to extract data, natural resources, and deportation concessions from vulnerable countries.

But Here’s the Good News

Good news can get lost in the mix of (waves arms) all this. But look!

  1. At least one Republican Senator has publicly stated that the war in Iran may soon exceed the president’s authority under the War Powers Resolution.
  2. GOP lawmakers are pushing back against ICE detention centers in their communities. (Good job, everyone who reached out to them!)
  3. A judge has temporarily halted administration efforts to collect race-related data from public universities.

And Here’s What You Can Do

Even small efforts can add up to something big. Plus, doing good is good for you, not to mention the world.

  1. Use this ACLU email link and easy-to-edit script to tell your federal representatives you do not want tax dollars to go toward war with Iran.
  2. Print out some copies of the Citizens’ Impeachment ‘Zine and share in your community.
  3. Support Doctors without Borders in their efforts to provide humanitarian medical assistance around the world (including the U.S., sadly but thankfully.)
