Three to Get Ready for April 3, 2026

Bad News First

The news out of this admin can be disturbing. Luckily, I read it all so you don't have to.

  1. The Department of Justice has decided that the Presidential Records Act of 1978 is unconstitutional and that the president “need not comply.”
  2. Pete Hegseth has fired the Army’s Chief of Staff (yes, during a war) reportedly because the General refused to deny promotions to Black and women officers.
  3. Punitive tariffs are back, this time on pharmaceuticals.

But Here’s the Good News

The good news is that this was a bad news week for the current administration. Keep going, everyone!

  1. Pam Bondi is out as Attorney General.
  2. A federal court has ruled that presidential immunity does not extend to inciting riots.
  3. Courts restored immigration protections to 900,000 migrants and invalidated changes to the Endangered Species Act. PLUS, at least three lawsuits have already been filed to block Tuesday’s executive order on mail-in voting. Woohoo!

And Here’s What You Can Do

Even small efforts have the potential to ripple out in ways we don’t expect. Plus, doing a little good makes you feel a little better.

  1. Check out May Day Strong and mark your calendars for a national day of action on May 1.
  2. Local food banks serve neighbors most vulnerable to rising prices. Can you donate a few hours or dollars this month?
  3. The Legal Defense Fund defends the humanity and rights of Black people. Learn more about their work and consider a donation.
