Three to Get Ready for April 1, 2026

Bad News First

The news can overwhelm, but it can also inspire or focus our action. Let’s take the absolute quickest peek.

  1. Birthright citizenship, a bedrock of Americanism, was challenged before the Supreme Court. (Thank you for your service, ACLU.)
  2. The president issued an executive order purporting to limit voting by mail. (This is unconstitutional, obvi.)
  3. A federal court ruled that a university must identify Jewish students and faculty to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

But Here’s the Good News

The good stuff doesn't always make the headlines. But good things are happening, so cheer the wins!

  1. The Arizona Supreme Court declined to hear three lawsuits challenging accessible and secure elections.
  2. An executive order to block funding to NPR and PBS has been ruled unconstitutional.
  3. Construction at the White House “must stop until Congress authorizes completion,” a court has ruled.

And Here’s What You Can Do

Small efforts have the potential to ripple out in ways we don’t expect. Plus, doing good is good for you. Try it, you'll like it!

  1. I insist you subscribe to Heather Cox Richardson for a daily dose of historical perspective.
  2. Lawyers for Good Government fights for the rule of law. See how you can help.
  3. So what if yard signs are virtue signaling? Signaling our virtues invites neighbors to join us.
