Three to Get Ready for May 30, 2026

Bad News First

The news can be disheartening, but it can also inspire our engagement. Let’s take a quick peek.

  1. The administration is seeking political control over scientific research and limiting the participation of foreign scientists. Meanwhile, Ebola researchers have been sidelined, even as the CDC scrambles to screen travelers.
  2. Offshore tax-dodging is back.
  3. Having had no luck in the courts, the administration is trying to obtain voter lists via the postal service.

But Here’s the Good News

Look! It's not all bad!

  1. One court has blocked implementation of the “anti-weaponization” slush fund and another reopened the underlying IRS litigation to explore whether it was all a fraud. Adding insult to injury, a third judge ordered Trump’s removed from the Kennedy Center.
  2. A New Hampshire law requiring voters to show proof of citizenship to vote has been ruled unconstitutional.
  3. An ICE officer has been arrested for assault and falsely reporting a crime in Minnesota.

And Here’s What You Can Do

Doing good is good for you (and me, not that you owe me for toiling away on this free newsletter or anything.)

  1. Send postcards to voters in key races with Activate America.
  2. Get trained to text unregistered likely Democrats in key swing states, then text at your leisure, for free. Learn more.
  3. Mark your calendar to rise up and sing out at the next No Kings event on June 14.
