Three things you should know about the U.S. government.
Three reasons to believe things can get better.
Three things you can do to help.
Three times a week.
Let’s go!

Three to Get Ready for April 20, 2026

Bad News First

The news can be overwhelming, but it can also focus our engagement. Let’s take a quick peek.

  1. The Trump family is pursuing a settlement of its $10 billion lawsuit against the U.S. government. (Democrats have introduced a bill to ban this sort of thing.)
  2. The president’s pronouncements about the Iran war are making someone a lot of money lately. Hmm.
  3. The Senate voted to allow a foreign company to build a mine in the boundary waters wilderness of northern Minnesota.

But Here’s the Good News

Encouraging developments don’t always make the headlines. But good things are happening, so take heart!

  1. U.S. Senators would like to know what happened to the $63 million settlement tech companies paid into the now-dissolved presidential library fund.
  2. The U.S. government might actually refund companies for illegal tariffs.
  3. State legislatures are not jumping on the anti-immigrant bandwagon.

And Here’s What You Can Do

Even small efforts have the potential to ripple out in ways we don’t expect. Plus, doing good is good for you. Give it a try!

  1. Download a free Card Campaign 4 Democracy postcard to mail or share with your neighborhood. (Suggestions for introverts and extroverts included!)
  2. Sign up for the April 22 Stand Up for Science Virtual Earth Day Rally.
  3. Thank Senator Elizabeth Warren for her persistence against corruption and follow her social media channels for inspiration.
