Bad News First

The news can be overwhelming, but it can also inform, inspire, and focus our engagement. Let’s gird our loins and take a quick peek.

  1. Birthright citizenship, a bedrock of Americanism, was challenged before the Supreme Court. (Thank you for your service, ACLU.)

  2. The president issued an executive order purporting to limit voting by mail. (This is unconstitutional, obvi.)

  3. A federal court ruled that a university must identify Jewish students and faculty to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Good News!

Encouraging developments don’t always make the headlines, But good news can provide us with hope and momentum, so let's take heart!

  1. The Arizona Supreme Court declined to hear three lawsuits challenging accessible and secure elections.

  2. An executive order to block funding to NPR and PBS has been ruled unconstitutional.

  3. Construction at the White House “must stop until Congress authorizes completion,” a court has ruled.
