The news can be overwhelming, but it can also inform, inspire, and focus our engagement. Let’s gird our loins and take a quick peek.
  1. In its latest release of materials related to the Epstein investigation, the Department of Justice failed to redact the names and identifying information of 43 victims (20+ of which were minors) and included at least 40 nude photos of young women.

  2. The Congressional Budget Office has determined that troop deployments to U.S. cities have cost taxpayers $496 million.

  3. With ICE enforcement in Minnesota (among other states) ongoing, NPR reports on a pattern of “unproven or incorrect claims when describing immigrants targeted for deportation,” consistent with ICE agents’ claims that a man with a broken skull “purposefully ran headfirst into a brick wall.”

Good News!

Encouraging developments don’t always make the headlines, But good news can provide us with hope and momentum, so let's take heart!
  1. Pursuant to a no-holds-barred court ruling highlighting “the government’s ignorance of an American historical document called the Declaration of Independence” and “that pesky inconvenience called the Fourth Amendment,” a five-year-old and his father, both taken by ICE from Minnesota to Texas for detention, have been released.

  2. State special election news: In a shocking upset, a Democrat was elected to fill a Texas state senate seat, while in Minnesota two Democrats were elected, bringing that state house to a 67-67 tie.

  3. Despite ongoing violence against peaceful protestors and legal observers, 34,000 Minnesotans have signed up to be trained as ICE watchers and 200,000 people across the country viewed last week’s Eyes on ICE training, which will be repeated on February 5.
