The news can be overwhelming, but it can also inform, inspire, and focus our engagement. Let’s gird our loins and take a quick peek.

  1. The war with Iran is being managed so poorly that support from Republicans is waning.

  2. Former Trump advisor Michael Flynn has now received not only a presidential pardon for lying during the Russia inquiry, but also a $1.25 million settlement from the Department of Justice.

  3. It’s not your imagination. Blue states are three times less likely to receive FEMA disaster help than red states, per Politico.

Good News!

Encouraging developments don’t always make the headlines, But good news can provide us with hope and momentum, so let's take heart!

  1. No Kings demonstrations on Saturday were so successful that even the NYT had to cover them. PS In case you’re thinking protests don’t accomplish anything, see what a previous protest inspired these women to do.

  2. In redistricting news, a Utah court deferred to the state’s citizens, and Missouri opposition to a GOP gerrymander made it on to the ballot.

  3. Courts have ruled in favor of ICE detainees’ right to access their counsel and clergy. (These rights seem obvious, but courts protecting them counts as good news these days. Yay?)
